Focusing in on two major trends for the season, Roberto Cavalli’s spring ’16 women’s collection featured multiple takes on laceup and wrap-tied footwear.
The brand focused largely on suede ankle booties with wrap-tied bows as a side detail. The style was offered in spring colors, from violet and aqua blue to embossed snakeskin, but they read as more of a fall style. Wooden soles and heels, while a popular choice in luxury footwear, somehow cheapened the look here.
Fresher silhouettes included a laceup bootie that can be tied around the ankle and a double-buckled bootie with ruched leather straps.
In March, Roberto Cavalli appointed Peter Dundas as its new creative director. While his ready-to-wear has presented a softer take for the often va-va-voom brand, his accessories still need reworking and a stronger viewpoint.
