THE Scottish Fashion Awards attracted a large crowd of famous faces in London last night, all of whom were there to celebrate the country’s substantial contribution to the fashion industry.
Vivienne Westwood was the big winner of the night, as she was inducted into the Hall of Fame for her “undeterred loyalty and unparalleled love and passion for Scottish textiles and fabrics”.
“I dedicate this award to two men who have been my co-designers,” Westwood said as she took to the podium. “Malcolm McLaren, who loved tartan and helped me love tartan. And my husband Andreas – who is a phenomenal man and the one who designed our McAndreas tartan. He would’ve worn the the kilt tonight but he tried it on and it was a bit too small,” she joked.
Other big names to scoop accolades included Christopher Kane, Jean Campbell and Amy Macdonald who were awarded Scottish Fashion Designer of he Year, Scottish Model of the Year and Scottish Fashion Icon respectively, while David Gandy was awarded the Founders Award “for his support of Scottish and British fashion over the last nine years”.
