In a perfect conclusion to its 15-year celebration, Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015 witnessed a grand finale by Anamika Khanna.
Her collection, inspired by ‘Sculpt’ — the brand’s beauty statement for the season — was a display of craftsmanship. The eclectic line was neither Indian nor western, but a contrast of sculpting and fluidity, construction and deconstruction. The resort line had crisp garments with a lot of organza, silk dupion and pure silk. Structured drapes and Indian crafts stood out.
Each look on the runway was completed with Lakme’s new range of Absolute Sculpt Matte lipsticks and accentuated through structured hairdos. Models strutted down the ramp with contoured matte lips in a palette of plums, deep reds and feminine pinks. The looks were crafted by the brand’s makeup expert, Natasha Nischol, in collaboration with Lakme Absolute Salon hair experts. Said Anamika, “The Sculpt statement was a very inspiring theme to work with. It is an eclectic mix of construction and deconstruction and I have played a lot with drapes.” Added Purnima, “Sculpt is all about a modern and structured look, with a focus on matte lips, which we see as the big trend this season.”
