The main issue I had with this book was it felt like the authors EG Scott is a pseudonym concentrated so much on this twisted plot and forgot that there needs to be some compelling reason why the reader should be interested

Infidelity and an opioid addiction sounds like a recipe for disaster If you date a married man end up marrying him and find out he's cheating on you are you really that surprised? What happens when the woman he's having an affair with turns out to be crazier than you? Is it the opioids that are driving you mad or are things really as fucked up as they appear? The first part of this book had me turning pages like a madwoman They

The Woman Inside

That they were each other's ideal and perhaps only match But twenty years later Paul and Rebecca are drowning as the damage and secrets that ignited their love begin to consume their marriage Paul is cheating on Rebecca and his affair gets messy fast His mistress is stalking them with growing audacity when Rebecca discovers Paul's elaborate plan to build a new life without her And t. Find all of my reviews at finishing this yesterday my reaction was pretty much The Woman Inside is the latest in a long line of domestic thrillers This one features a pill addicted wife and a philandering husband I had a laundry list of issues with it To begin with the blurb tells too much so I m thankful I didn t read it before starting I would have been bummed that the first big twist was pretty much spoiled on the back cover Next the timehops The wibbly wobbly is used uite freuently in mysteriesthrillers and works okay for me about 50% of the time However in this book the time goes from waaaaaay before to immediately before to waaaaaay after to immediately after and everywhere in between with no indication exactly where you are until you read a few paragraphs and figure it out Third too many POVs It s one thing to follow the husband and wife It s another to follow them annnnnd a mistress annnnnnnnd a couple of police detectives Fourth now I m a gal who likes an unreliable narrator as much if not than the next guy Buuuuuuuuuuut there s a big difference between And being unconscious so no one knows WTF is happening at allThen there s the twists and turns All I can say is YMMV but as a reader who picks up A LOT of thrillers attempting to heave everything but the kitchen sink at me doesn t mean diddly Nothing here was a surprise and I saw it all coming a mile and a half away There s also a big difference between reading a book that owns how much it is over the top and is simply bringing the reader along for a crazy ride and one who tries to take itself seriously while being OTT I could have saved myself a lot of time andgif hunting if curiosity would have got the better of me earlier and I had simply Googled these authors An article about them in EW disclosed Both authors are thriller junkies they volleyed chapters back and forth each taking on a POV Each chapter is in direct response to the one before and throwing potential twists at each other That really was fun Wands says Adds Keenan The aim to shock and surprise with each chapter was very motivating We got a little aggressive Basically this was a game of trying to one up the other It didn t work for me ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Hough Rebecca is spiraling into an opiate addiction it doesn't stop her from coming up with a devious plot of her own and this one could end absolutely everything What follows is an unpredictable and stylish game of cat and mouse a shocking tale of unfaithfulness and unreliability that will keep you racing until the final twist and make you wonder how well you really know your spouse. EG Scott is a psuedonym for two writers one in publishing and one is a screenwriter and I am in love with both of them The Woman Inside is a fabulously flawed domestic thriller with original twists and turns while taking on real issues that our society faces today Rebecca and Paul appear to have the perfect life with great careers and a beautiful home on Long Island where real estate is power and success Behind this flawless image is a flawed and broken relationship that is hidden in secret Rebecca has an opioid addiction that has taken a life of its own while Paul has lost his job and began an extramarital affair with one of their neighbors As Paul s affair begins to unravel he begins to realize that it s not as hot steamy and validating as he thought it would be As Paul begins to set things right Rebecca is ready to let go The duo begin to banter back and forth both emotionally and psychologically in order to gain the ultimate power freedom This book was so unexpected folks I saw a lot of mixed reviews on here but I jumped at the chance to read this book because a the cover is gorgeous I am superficial judge all you want b the setting takes place on Long Island where I grew up c it seemed like it would be full of mystery and suspense The Woman Inside is than just a mysterydomestic thriller because it also shows the reality in the world we are living The United States s opioid epidemic is destroying families across the country and I have yet to read a book that reflects that issue Sure we have a ton of unreliable narrators who have drinking problems but that feat has been shown time and time again This time we have a bird s eye view on how opioids can hurt anyone rich poor no matter your color or gender In fact after reading this novel I begin researching about this on National Institute of Drug Abuse to learn This is the first time that a book has gotten me to venture that far into reality once I ve finished reading it The Woman Inside not only grabbed my attention with their discussion about opioid abuse but it also had a lot of unexpected twists and turns This novel didn t throw random twists or red herrings out there for you to lose sight of what s happening but each clue was part of a bigger puzzle A puzzle that I effectively did not figure out and was shocked when it came to an end I do think that this book will polarize readers on two different sides one side with devoted fans and another side of bitter enemies This book will be left up for discussion and I can t wait to be part of thatThank you Dutton Books for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review The Woman Inside will be released January 22 2019

An impossible to put down domestic thriller about secrets and revenge told from the perspectives of a husband and wife who are the most perfect and the most dangerous match for each other Rebecca didn't know love was possible until she met Paul a successful charismatic married man with a past as dark as her own Their pain drew them together with an irresistible magnetism; they sensed. I think I need to give up on thrillers If they are not spectacularly well done I become irritated The main character Rebecca possessed not one redeeming uality the mistress is a watered down version of Mrs Danvers the husband should have been named Flat Stanley and the detectives were a snore In addition to the poorly developed characters there are plot holes the implausible and filler galore I m not happy with a one star rating but I m far from happy with this book
