Ustajem i opet padam Jako sam težak usidren za tlo gnječi me težina Apsurdni Atlas vučem svijet. I d never have thought that I d like this but I did For some reason I tend to dislike black and white comics plus the characters in this one are not that perfect so to speak If it is not enough the story is uite philosophical the plot is simple yet I read the whole thing in practically one sitting Touching interesting funny thought provoking and entertaining I don t know how M Larcenet did it but he pulled it off and I can t recommend it strong enough This comic novel clearly very clearly shows the difference between American and European comics I m not saying one is good the other one is bad but this is a new level almost a new uality in itself Imagine Me opet padam Jako sam težak usidren za tlo gnječi me težina Apsurdni Atlas vučem svijet. Za sobom Jako sam težak Više nego tegleći konj Više nego tenkJako sam težak a ipak ponekad letim. Blast is a road story a criminal procedural a manifesto and a bad trip all rolled into one It follows Polza Mancini as he attempts to describe to the police who have arrested him why he did the things he did The details of his crime are hazy but the implication is dire Polza is in a lot of trouble We soon learn through Polza s incredibly detailed recollections that trouble has followed him all his life Even literally as his morbidly obese body has been a source of torment for him since grade school In telling his story to the police and to the reader Polza describes his search and attainment of a disturbing but untethered existence Seeking fleeting contact with the euphoric mental state he calls The Blast Polza tracks through the countryside on foot often as intoxicated as he is free As Polza meets various outcasts and low lifes we get a glimpse into the thought process that could lead a man to abandon his life for a new one out of the blue As the clock ticks down on the police s investigation they and the reader are left with the same uestions what is Polza hiding and why Manu Larcenet has succeeding in creating an immensely intriguing conflicted and disuieting character in Polza Mancini with all of his pain and anguish coming through on each beautifully illustrated page A heavy story that can be both optimistic and horrifying Blast is well worth a read
