A beach themed wedding was the perfect choice for well-travelled couple, Cat and Nick!
Cat met Nick at a friend’s barbecue and it all happened very quickly after that! Six weeks later they were in South Africa where they shared more than a few once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like whale watching in a canoe, swinging through trees on a zip line and staying in a guest house with no power, lit only by 100s of candles. When on safari, the guide asked when they were going to get married…it was clearly meant to be!
Nick’s family is from New Zealand, and when the couple went to visit them, he dropped to one knee on a favourite beach, Pauanui, where he had spent many happy summers as a child. Champagne and a picnic sealed the perfect day!
A beach theme was chosen by Cat and Nick, who both love travel and adventure, and All Saints Chapel in Eastbourne formed a great venue for both the ceremony and the wonderful reception.
When Cat first saw Nick on their wedding day, she said he had such an amazing smile on his face, she couldn’t wait to marry him! Karen had two bridesmaids – both friends from school. When the three of them went bridesmaid dress shopping, they spotted the dresses within 20 minutes, so spent the rest of the day drinking cocktails and eating Mexican food! There were quite a few speeches on the day with the bride, groom, Cat’s mum, the groom’s mum and dad and the best men all having something to say!
The beautiful venue didn’t need much decorating, but Cat’s mum hand painted pebbles with each guest’s name. The table plan was designed so that each table looked like an island and was named after one of the couple’s favourite beaches. Beau K Florists created the bouquets and a family team made the buttonholes and the cakes. Friend Miriam made bunting and also created the wonderful top table centrepiece. The couple’s first dance was to Lovely Day by Bll Withers.
