An Armenian billionaire’s son has married his fiancee in an elaborate celebration featuring thousands of fresh flowers, crystals, and wedding cake measuring 4.5 metres.
Karen Karapetyan, son of Russia-based businessman Samvel Karapetyan, married his fiancee Lilit in Moscow over the weekend.
The groom’s father has an estimated fortune of almost $AUD5 billion, and to say no expense was spared for the wedding would be an understatement.
The couple walked down the aisle of the Armenian Apostolic Church through a heart-shaped floral archway, surrounded by rows of candles.
For the reception, attended by 200 guests, the prestigious Safisa banquet hall was decked out with colourful flowers and strands of crystals forming a canopy over the ceiling.
Instagram photos posted by guests also depict a flower wall adorned with the letters K and L.
Perhaps the most jaw-dropping feature of the reception, however, was the newlyweds’ towering wedding cake.
The cake, which almost reached the ceiling, featured multiple carefully-constructed tiers and was decorated with fresh blooms.
The bride, a social media personality with 11,000 followers, wore a voluminous, bejewelled gown for the wedding ceremony.
While the average wedding in Australia costs $36,200, it’s safe to assume the Kapetyans had a much larger budget to work with.
According to the Daily Mail, Samvel Karapetyan contributed a cool $AUD2.2 million to his eldest son’s wedding last year, so it’s likely he poured a similar amount of money into Karen’s nuptials.
