White Shoes After Labor Day? Shop Fall’s Most Popular Rule-Breaking Trend

For the fashion crowd, wearing white after Labor Day is no longer just acceptable—it’s strongly encouraged. Gone are the days of routinely storing your white shoes in September. In fact, this year, white footwear has become one of the biggest trends, and following last summer’s craze for the little white boot, designers and street style stars are branching out to a wider range of shapes and styles.

At Simone Rocha in London, thick-soled Mary Janes balanced out the delicate, doll-like frocks while the ladylike T-strap pumps at Emilia Wickstead were a vivid contrast to the cherry red and millennial pink palette. After Bonnie Young’s New York presentation, the white Dansko clog gained a new reputation as the hottest new ugly-chic shoe of all. Off the runway, showgoers like Reese Blutstein and Caroline Daur dressed up their trousers with pointed-toe slingbacks from Reike Nen and Tibi. White ankle boots remained a fixture as well, with Kate Foley and Elaine Welteroth pairing theirs with floral midi dresses, as Lily Aldridge opted for a pale platform to toughen up her off-duty look.
